Over 100 Mentee-Mentor pairs recently started their journey together in the Advance Cross-Company Mentoring Program. At the same time, over 85 Mentee-Mentor pairs concluded their year of trusted individual exchange. The high-caliber level of the Advance Mentors is exceptional and absolutely unique in Switzerland as is the accomplished female talent pool selected for this program. Plenty of good reasons to kick off and close this year’s waves with a grand Summit.
The energy in the room vibrated with impact stories shared by Mentees and Mentors of the closing wave 2021/22, mixed with the joyful excitement of the participants in the new wave 2022/23. All the stories that were shared had one thing in common: The incredible value that can be leveraged from such trusted Mentee-Mentor relationships.
Anne Halbritter, who has built and managed this program from its beginnings in 2014 when it was first launched with 11 pairs, was leading through the Summit, visibly proud of the program’s growth, and, above all, success. Rightly so: To date, over 1200 Mentees and Mentors alike have been benefiting from this high-impact program over the years. And many more will do so in the future.
If both Mentee and Mentor complete the year together, the matching counts as successful. Many Mentee-Mentor relationships turn into lasting ones, which speaks for itself. What is more, approximately 50% of the Mentors in the Advance pool are recurring. Many of them even offer their time year after year as they appreciate the reverse mentoring effects as much as the Mentees benefit from the open exchange with a more experienced Mentor.
Mentees are in the driver seat when it comes to defining their ambition and specific goals for the mentoring year. Mentors are offering their experience, network and act as sparring partners when it comes to mastering the challenges ahead. We asked some former mentees to share how the program impacted their careers.
Mentoring is a skill that needs practice and experience like any other. New mentors highly appreciated the inspirational insights that were shared by two experienced mentors in the Advance pool: Anna Mattsson, Partner at McKinsey & Company, and Robert Itschner, Country Managing Director ABB Switzerland.
